Eric McCormack, best known for his 11-year-long role in the sitcom Will and Grace, returns in the new thriller Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue on Saturday nights on BBC One (https://www.hellomagazine.com/tags/bbc/). The 62-year-old actor lives quietly, keeping private personal life including his marriage, separation from his wife, and son Finnigan, who often avoids the spotlight. Scroll down to learn more about his marriage and his only son with his ex-wife.
Eric McCormack married Janet for 26 years. The duo first met at CBS’s Lonesome Dove set, where he played Col and Janet served as an assistant director. They welcomed their son, Finnigan, in 2002.
Having become an American citizen in 1999, the Canadian-American actor split time between Los Angeles and Vancouver. However, Janet filed for divorce in November 2023 citing irreconcilable differences, seeking spousal support and ending Eric’s ability to receive spousal benefits.
Finnigan, born in 2002, typically hides his identity, but Eric occasionally reveals glimpses of his relationship with his son. He told Us Weekly: “I remember once, I think it was Thanksgiving, and we sat watching an old rerun of Will and Grace. He looked at us, looked at the screen, and looked back—‘Are you just going to sit and watch yourself on television all day? This is appalling!’”
Finnigan attended Northeastern University’s College of Arts, Media, and Design, where he worked as a part-time record producer for Green Line Records. Though he likely graduated, we don’t know for certain what he’s doing now, but it’s unclear whether he’ll pursue creative careers based on his parents’ influence.
